The Kunsthaus Zug today holds some 10,000 works: it is a top-quality, public art collection of regional, national and international importance.
Treasure Chamber and Laboratory: The Kunsthaus Zug has different collection areas, ranging from classical modernism to contemporary art. Highlights include the most important collection of classical Viennese Modernism in Europe outside of Austria, as well as groups of works on Swiss Surrealism and Fantastic Realism, Central Switzerland and sculpture and sculpture. In 1996, "Project Collection" was developed as a dynamic collection model of contemporary art that is unique in the world and incorporates the city.
The collection includes extensive groups of works by: Christa de Carouge, Olafur Eliasson, Richard Gerstl, Florin Granwehr, Josef Herzog, Josef Hoffmann, Tadashi Kawamata, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Gustav Klimt, Oskar Kokoschka, Friedrich Kuhn, Walter Johannes Moeschlin, Max von Moos, Brigitte Moser, Péter Nádas, Egon Schiele, Adrian Schiess, Bernhard Schobinger, Karl Friedrich Schobinger, Roman Signer, Pravoslav Sovak, Annelies Štrba, Richard Tuttle, Fritz Wotruba.
The limited space available does not allow for a permanent presentation of the collection. It will be presented temporarily in thematic temporary exhibitions at the Kunsthaus Zug and in the KunstCluster Zug display depot.
