Kunsthaus Zug mobil, 9th stop: Europaring/Hafen, Zug
makingofilm
Most recently, the Kunsthaus Zug mobil made a stop in Göppingen. At the local train station, it served as a film studio in May/June. Over the course of five weeks, the project collective ‹Makingofilm› (around twenty students of the Stuttgart State Academy of Fine Arts with the artists Alexander Roob and Georg Winter) filmed and drawn. They made a making-of version of Samuel Beckett's 1965 film ‹The Eye› (later simply called ‹Film›, starring Buster Keaton) and investigated questions of cinematic perception. The Göppingen public was successfully involved in the process-like project: as extras, cameramen, ‹demonstrators› or main actors.
The original, sometimes playful results of the experiment are now being presented at the Kunsthaus Zug mobil at the open-air cinema in Zug. Films, drawings, props, etc. Participating students from Stuttgart will report, show and answer questions throughout the exhibition.
Making of ‹Film› is a cooperation between Ukiyo Camera Systems, Kunsthalle Göppingen, Kunsthaus Zug and Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste Stuttgart. The group project was awarded a prize by the Stuttgart State Academy of Fine Arts. It follows on from the graphic accompaniment of the creation and initial use of the Kunsthaus Zug mobil by Alexander Roob and the group odra.tek, which was the subject of a major exhibition at the Kunsthaus Zug in 2002.
